If working at home is so great, why don’t more people do it?

This is a great question and one that doesn’t get answered honestly enough.

Working at home isn’t for everyone.

I’ll say it again for the people in the back:

Working at home isn’t for everyone.

I know it gets sold that way a lot — “anyone can do it!” and while I think you can learn anything, I do think that some people just aren’t ready for it or aren’t quite suited for it.

A lot of what you’ll see on social media is the benefits of working at home — starting work when you want, working in the places you want, a higher earning potential, vacations, etc.

But what you don’t see is…

  • The discipline it takes to start the day late so you can have breakfast with your fam, but then also working late so that you can get all your work done and still hold up your end of the bargain.

  • The time it takes to earn money as an entrepreneur — it doesn’t happen overnight and a lot of what leads to the success takes loooooong nights, early mornings, and a good amount of sacrifice.

  • The failed attempts, the naysayers and the mistakes

  • The frustration that comes with running your own business.

  • The hard work it takes to make this happen.

It’s not always easy and those who are unwilling to put in the time and work will often leave the work-at-home world before they really even get started.

It’s not an impossible career path to take by any means, especially if you’re aware of the potential obstacles below and still are ready to take them on.

Our take

Working at home is, at least for me, 100% worth it. I don’t see myself ever returning to teaching.
