A few years ago, I had a cancer scare that woke me up and caused me to realize I didn’t want to be a teacher forever. But I really wasn’t sure what to do next. I knew that I didn’t want to go back to sleepwalking through life. Ever feel that way? So I identified what was most important to me. I decided what I wanted my life to look like, which led to my work-at-home life now as an entrepreneur.
I knew in a perfect world, I’d have more freedom over my time.
I’d make more money.
I’d still make an impact on the world.
I’d be able to spend more time with my family.
So what’s most important to you?
What do you want your life to look like? Who do you want to help? What are your top 3 values?
If you want to find out what work-at-home job is right for you, you need to get crystal clear about what you want.
Here’s an example:
- I’d have more freedom over my time – I get to plan my day, take time off if I get things done early, and spend much of my day (if not all of it) on tasks I really enjoy doing.
Next, consider the answers to these questions to help you determine which work-at-home job is best for you.
- What do I like to do?
- What do I want to learn to do?
- Do I like working with people on a daily basis or do I prefer to do my own thing?
- Do I have the itch to start my own business, or am I ok with working for someone else?
- Do I prefer to be an employee or contractor?
- What are my long-term goals?
These six questions will help you determine what step you can take next.
After you’ve narrowed this down, use my work-at-home BFF: Google.
If you’re clear on what you want, it’s just a matter of finding the “how.”
Almost any problem can be solved if you ask the right questions.
Here are a few examples:
- “Work-at-home jobs for someone who loves dogs”.
If you love dogs like I do, the idea of working with dogs or working from home AND with dogs seems like the best-case scenario.
One potential job for you might be a pet adoption specialist. You help match up pets to be adopted with potential pup-rents. Great job, AMIRIGHT?
Another potential job for you might be writing about dogs. Maybe that’s writing an eBook or creating some kind of training.
If you’re an introvert, you could google…
- “Online jobs for someone who wants to work by themselves”.
That simple google question yields results like virtual assistant, proofreader, editor, and more.
Another question that you might have is about finding an online job with benefits. Here’s a great phrase to search for that:
- “Work-at-home jobs that provide benefits”.
Holly at the Work at Home Woman has a giant list of online jobs that offer benefits — plus the benefits they provide! This giant list came up with a quick google search.
You have all the information you need to make informed decisions and see that so much more is possible when it comes to the variety and availability of jobs online.
